Combined Expository Piece and Introduction
Dear Visitor,
I hope you enjoy what my project has to offer. I hope that it makes you laugh, I hope that it makes you learn something new, and I hope that it allows you to discover something you never thought about before. Before I begin I'd like to share some of my reasons for picking my specific topic.
My parents chose to name me Isaac for two very big reasons. The first reason was because Yitzhak Rabin (former Prime Minister of Israel) had just been killed, and it is tradition in Jewish culture to name your child after someone who has passed. The other reason is because Yitzhak which is the Hebrew translation of my name is defined as "he who laughs". My parents chose that name because they wanted my life to be filled with laughter. So the process of doing my Multi-Genre on comedy is my namesake.
There were several other reasons why I chose to do my project on comedy. One huge reason was because I have always admired the different perspectives and intellectual thought processes of stand-up comedians. I have always viewed comedy as a science. Comedians make incredibly astute observations about many facets of life and are able to articulate their observations in a way that people agree with so much so that they laugh.
I also believe that comedy and humor are essential building blocks when it comes to creating empathy between people. If you're able to laugh about something with someone it is something positive you can share with that person that can lead to great personal relationships. Comedy is important to me because I think it is a key contributor to making people closer.
I hope you enjoy the product of my research,
Isaac
